ASUS PadFone Mini available in Singapore from July 26 for S$399
Six months after its official announcement at Consumer Electronics Show 2014, the ASUS PadFone Mini is finally here in Singapore.
Available from July 26 at a retail price of S$399 (without line contract and inclusive of GST), the 2-in-1 device (the 4-inch PadFone Mini and its 7-inch tablet station dock) comes in both black and white at all M1 and StarHub stores, ASUS brand stores at Funan IT Mall, Sim Lim Square, Vivocity and the ASUS Online Store.
As a quick recap, the PadFone Mini sports a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) IPS+ display and comes with an Intel Atom Z2560 dual-core 1.6GHz processor. It runs on 1GB RAM and has an internal storage capacity of 8GB with microSD expansion up to 64GB.
Other specs include dual-SIM support, an 8-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.3 with ASUS ZenUI (upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat), a non-removable 1,170mAh battery and a weight of 116g. The 7-inch tablet station dock weighs 260g, measures 13.91mm thick and has a non-removable 2,100mAh battery.
Do not confuse the PadFone Mini with the new range of ZenFone smartphones that ASUS unveiled earlier this year. The PadFone series, which includes the PadFone Infinity (late 2013) and PadFone S), are targeted at consumers who want to carry one single device that meets their need of both mobile entertainment and voice capabilities. The ZenFone series, on the other hand, consist of three models with different display sizes (4-inch, 5-inch, and 6-inch) and boasts premium features normally found in more expensive models.
