ASUS PadFone and Transformer Pad Tablets Getting Android 4.1 Update
ASUS is the second Android vendor after HTC to announce the Android 4.1 update plans for some of its mobile devices. ASUS revealed in a statement that the Transformer Pad Prime, Transformer Pad TF300 and Infinity TF700 will be receiving the Jelly Bean update "in the coming months". Here's the full statement from ASUS:
"Dear valued ASUS customer,
At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our 'Design Thinking' philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.
We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.
We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.
Thank you for your continued support.
Besides the range of Transformer Pad tablets, the ASUS PadFone will also be upgraded to Android 4.1 although no specific time frame is mentioned. A local ASUS spokesperson confirmed this when we reached out to the company on the availability of the update for other devices.
ASUS Singapore - "Also, for the Padfone, yes, in pursuit of customer satisfaction; ASUS PadFone will be upgradable to Jelly Bean OS."
ASUS has been consistent in issuing the latest Android OS updates to its line of mobile devices. It led the market for the Android 3.2 update service and was among the first to make Android 4.0 available for the Eee Pad Transformer and Slider. In addition, it is the manufacturer for the Google Nexus 7, the world's first Android 4.1 device. We will not be surprised if ASUS takes the lead again this time to issue the Android 4.1 update for its mobile devices.
