ASUS Launches Vivotab Smart Detachable Tablet

Hot on the heels of the recently announced ASUS Vivotab RT is its sibling, the ASUS Vivotab Smart. This 9.7mm thick, 10.1-inch tablet is now available in Singapore at a very attractive price -- $699 for the Wi-Fi model. The main difference between the Vivotab Smart and Vivotab RT is the processor type used.

The Vivotab Smart comes with the new dual-core Intel Atom Z2760 (1.8GHz) system-on-a-chip processor. This means it will be running the full version of Windows 8, rather than Windows RT on its 64GB onboard memory. The ASUS Vivotab Smart will also feature a standard 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, 5-point multi-touch IPS panel, as well as front (2MP) and back (8MP) cameras.

Instead of having a keyboard dock like the Vivotab RT, ASUS Vivotab Smart buyers have the option of getting a Bluetooth Transleeve keyboard and Vivo cover. The thin (5mm) and light aluminum keyboard is magnetically attached to the sleeve, and can be separated when some serious typing needs to be done. This method of including a keyboard allows the alright light 580g tablet to stay portable.

While the Vivotab Smart will come in only either black or white, users will be able to choose from four colors for their sleeves. Unfortunately, according to ASUS, the optional Transleeve keyboard will be sold separately at a later date. We'll update this article once the information regarding the Bluetooth keyboard comes in.
