ASUS to Launch Ultrabooks on October 11

Hit this link, and it is likely you'd be led to an ASUS micro-site heralding the arrival of their upcoming Ultrabooks. You might notice a countdown ticker, and subtle hint of the press event's venue stacked next to its launch date.

That's right, ASUS is ready to introduce their slim and sexy UX babies on October 11th, and in New York presumably. The launch would include the previously announced 11.6-inch UX21, and bigger 13.3-inch UX31 model expected to rip your pockets with its US$2,000 price tag.

According to PCWorld, there were also rumors of ASUS releasing five or more Ultrabooks within the October window instead of two measly models. More importantly, they'll come with a tentative price window ranging from US$799 to US$1,999. Translated to our local context, this also suggests that consumers here would be able to snag an entry-level Ultrabook offering for around the S$1,000 mark.

Actual details for the UX-series aren't finalized as yet, though they are expected to be equipped with Intel's Sandy Bridge Core i5 or i7 processors, as well as sport a profile less than 17.8mm thick and weighing no more than 1.4kg.
