ASUS has released a new GeForce GTX 950 graphics card that doesn’t feature any power molex connectors. Till now, all those GeForce GTX 950 cards that we have had come across require at least one 6-pin PCIe power connector to drive the card. Best of all, the removal of the power connector by ASUS is done without lowering the clock speeds of the GM206 GPU.

According to its listed specifications, in its default Gaming mode, the GTX950-2G graphics core has a base clock speed of 1026MHz, and a boost clock speed of 1190MHz. Both clock speeds are the same as the ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 950, non-OC SKU. Despite have a lower TDP of 75W, the new GTX 950 card should perform on par with its other similarly specced GTX 950 compatriots.

In terms of appearance, the blue-on-white color scheme of the card’s fan shroud is very compatible with the Signature series ASUS Z170 boards, especially the ASUS Z170 Deluxe; There isn’t any word on the card's local availability but we believe the card will be popular with system builders who are looking to construct their HTPCs. For overclockers, be advised to look elsewhere as this lower-powered card may not have enough juice to be vaulted to a higher performance level. For that, they might consider the ASUS Echelon GeForce GTX 950. Please click here for more information on the new GTX 950 card.
