ASUS Announces M70 Desktop PC with NFC Technology

ASUS announced the M70 desktop PC that features Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. It allows the pairing of NFC-enabled Android devices for easy access to the PC. At the same time, file sharing between the PC and paired devices is also made easier with this wireless communication technology.

The M70 features the exclusive NFC Express application that is able to backup videos and photos of paired devices automatically. It is also able to detect the last operation in order to facilitate incremental backup. The user is able to log into the Windows 8 operating system of the M70 with just a touch of his device. At the same time, the Quick Launch application enables the user to launch desktop application from his device.

The M70 is powered by a fourth generation Intel Core processor, and the user has the choice to select a discrete NVIDIA graphics card of his choice. However, according to the official press release, it is limited to the older NVIDIA graphics cards from the GTX 600 series, up to the GeForce GTX 650. Obviously, this machine isn't targeted at gamers and power users. But the system does feature some exclusive features that will appeal to users who seek to be more productive with PCs. The features include:-

  • Built-In Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
With this feature, the user can work without fear any sudden power loss to the M70. In the event of a power blackout, the UPS allows the user to save his work before shutting down the machine.
  • Wireless Charging Tray
It allows the charging of smartphones and tablets that support the Qi inductive power standard even when computer is turned off.
  • Universal Storage Module (USM) Hot Swap Drive Bay
This hot swap drive bay supports devices with USM interfaces. It allows the user to add and remove such devices without having to power down the system.

According to the local ASUS representative, the final specifications of the M70 have not been finalized for our market. Hopefully, the options for discrete graphics cards will be expanded to cover the latest GeForce GTX 700 series GPU. Do stay tuned for more updates on the M70's pricing and availability.
