ASRock has launched the ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Professional, their latest X79 boards under the Fatal1ty brand name. This board is the latest addition to their X79 family of motherboards since we announced their launch just two months ago in October.
It sports the usual bells and whistles of a high-end gaming motherboard and one of its touted features is the Fatal1ty mouse port. This port allows the user to poll the connected mouse at an optimized rate of 500Hz. This allows for smoother game play and faster response time to the mouse. This feature will appeal to professional gamers and other hardware purists who demand the best from their hardware. It also allows customization to adjust the poll rate from 125Hz to 1000Hz to adapt to the user's needs.
When compared to the current X79 Extreme series of motherboards, one of the main differences of the Fatal1ty X79 Professional is its lack of a cooling fan on its PCH heatsink. A case of form over function as the inclusion of the fan will mean the absence of the Fatal1ty signature emblazoned over the heatsink. Notwithstanding this glaring difference, the Fatal1ty X79 Professional has the makings of a high-end board as it supports overclocked quad-channel memory modules and it sports a total of four PEG slots for multi-GPU support.
We note with interest that it has been over a year since Fatal1ty and ASRock announced their global partnership to develop a range of motherboards specifically designed for PC gaming enthusiasts. The brand name of Fatal1ty has covered a plethora of products from energy food stuff targeted at gamers to the Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional, a high-end PCIe sound card which we highlighted at a recent Creative Recon3D peripherals and gaming headsets showcase.
