ASRock 990FX Extreme9 Motherboard Announced

ASRock has announced its 990FX Extreme9 that is touted as the most deluxe AM3+ series motherboard. By saving the best for last, this board supports the latest eight-core AMD FX-8350 processor. The board features AMD 990FX and SB950 chipsets as well as several of ASRock’s proprietary technologies like XFast RAM, XFast LAN and XFast USB.

This new high-end board boasts of quality components like dual-stack MOSFET and digital PWM that will ensure stable power delivery to the processor. Designed with a 12 + 2 power phase design and components like its gold capacitors, the board is designed for overclockers and power users who demand smooth power delivery to the CPU for their specific high-end requirements. The board is able to support overclocked memory modules rated up to DDR3-2450, up to a maximum capacity of 64GB.

In terms of PEG slots, the board boasts of four PCIe 2.0 x16 ones that support both NVIDIA 3-Way SLI and AMD 3-Way CrossFireX. There is no shortage of SATA connectors as the board features eight SATA 6Gbps onboard ones in additional to a pair that is courtesy of its ASMedia ASM1061 controllers.

The board has separate PS/2 ports for compliant keyboard and mouse respectively. There are also eSATA ports as well as IEEE 1394 (Firewire) one.
