Apple to sell up to 15 million units of iPhone 6s/6s Plus this weekend?

The rose gold Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are said to represent 40% of pre-orders.

Apple already revealed that it is "on pace to beat last year's 10 million first-weekend record", but we will only know the exact numbers on Monday. That doesn't stop one company from stepping forward to give its estimate on the weekend sales numbers.

According to the New York Post, Foursquare predicts that Apple will sell between 13 and 15 million units of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus this weekend. This translates to an increase of 30 to 50% from last year's sales when Apple sold 10 million units in just three days.

Foursquare claims that the data is obtained from shoppers at Apple Stores over 100 countries though data from online sales and other sales channels (telcos and authorized resellers) are not included. Foursquare operating chief Jeff Glueck also said that recent increases in foot traffic worldwide can help boost weekend sales by up to 360%.

Apple's new rose gold iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are expected to help the company sell more units this year. The rose gold models proved to be a hit among consumers in Singapore and an Apple analyst reported yesterday that the rose gold models should represent 30-40% of all pre-orders.
