Apple to schedule iPhone 6 event on September 9?

We've seen quite a number of alleged launch dates for the Apple iPhone 6. <br> Image source: Tomas Moyano and Nicholas Aichino.

Apple is said to be holding a media event for the iPhone 6 on Tuesday, September 9.

The information comes from John Paczkowski from Re/code, who is regarded as one of the most reputable sources on Apple news. If true, it would be almost exactly one year after the iPhone 5S/5C event.

We've seen other rumored dates being tossed around. For example, MacRumors claimed last Friday that Apple is planning an event for September 16 which also falls on a Tuesday. Earlier in July, the publication reported an iPhone 6 event in the first or second week of September

The availability of the new iPhones in retail stores is also uncertain. A leaked promotional flyer from China revealed that two iPhone 6 models will hit retail shelves on Friday, September 19. An online retailer on Amazon Japan listed stock availability of the iPhone 6 on Tuesday, September 30 while MacRumors claimed two different dates in different reports; availability a week and a half after the announcement or on October 16 (which is a Tuesday too).
