Apple Promises iOS 5 Bug Fixes for Battery Drain Issue in iPhone 4S

The Apple iPhone 4 (right) suffered from the "antennagate" issue. Will the emerging "batterygate" plague the iPhone 4S (left)? 

*Update: iOS 5.0.1 beta is available for developers to test. It apparently includes the software bug fixes mentioned below .

Since the Apple iPhone 4S went on sale, there have been numerous reports streaming online about its poor battery mileage. Apple has now officially confirmed that there is indeed a problem.

According to Engadget, Apple acknowledged the problem in a statement given to All Things D and a software upgrade will be released in the following weeks to address the issue. However, Apple did not offer any tips on how to work around the problem for the time being.

If you are facing similar problems with your iPhone 4S, do take a look at these tips provided by Apple Forums on conserving battery juice on the handset. We certainly hope that Apple can fix this problem soon before it erupts into a major "batterygate" saga. 

So far, we've not been able to replicate these issues on our test phone though.
