Siri's integration to more third party apps is likely to be one of the major announcements at WWDC 2017.

Engineers and AI industry sources told Reuters that Apple might be announcing plans to expand Siri integration to more third party apps as it tries to catch up with its competitors such as Amazon's Alexa. However, Apple is likely to focus on a small number of new categories instead of going all-out.

While Amazon's Alexa can carry out more than 12,000 tasks, Apple's Siri currently works with 6 specific apps: messaging, payments, ride booking, photo search, fitness and automotive infotainment. By limiting the number of new categories that Siri can work in, Apple hopes to create a better experience for its users.

The expansion of Siri's integration to more third party apps should come hand-in-hand with the rumored release of Apple's Amazon Echo rival, which is believed to have a better entertainment experience and superior sound quality.
