Apple iPhone SE said to be taking market share from local brands in China

Although Apple is estimated to ship lesser iPhones this year, it reportedly did well enough in China to gain some market share thanks to the iPhone SE.

Quoting information from Taiwan's handset supply chain, DigiTimes claims that the iPhone SE managed to squeeze market share from local brands in China such as Huawei, Xiaomi and Vivo. This has resulted in more conservative estimates of inventories for parts and components.

When the iPhone SE was launched in the Chinese market, CNBC reported that there were over 3.4 million pre-orders through retailers in China. Apple is said to be fairly optimistic about the sales of the iPhone SE and aims to ship between four to five million units this quarter. However, the iPhone SE is unlikely to reverse the decline in the overall sales of iPhones as the global smartphone market reaches saturation.
