*Updated as of 6.31 pm: The black iPhone 5 has run out of stocks!

Apple's upcoming iPhone 5 is now up for pre-order in Singapore, with prices starting from S$948 for the 16GB version. The 32GB and 64GB variants will cost S$1,088 and S$1,238 respectively. Each customer is limited to pre-ordering two sets. Limited quantities are available, so order fast!

The Apple Store site ran into some issues earlier when consumers who tried to place their pre-orders were unable to do so. This is not unexpected since Apple iPhones have always been in huge demand, and we believe the iPhone 5 is no different.

The new iPhone 5 comes with a few notable upgrades such as a 4-inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, a slimmer chassis at 7.6mm and is powered by an A6 processor. During Apple's earlier announcement, Singapore was placed amongst the first wave of countries to receive the iPhone 5 from 21st September.

If you're not too eager to fork out that much cash for the iPhone 5, with or without a 2-year contract, do note that the iPhone 4S (16GB) is now more affordable at S$788. The iPhone 4 (8GB) is priced at S$588.
