Apple and IBM have jointly announced a global partnership that will see the use of Apple's iPhone and iPad devices in the enterprise workplace using IBM applications and solutions.

Specifically, the partnership will see Apple and IBM jointly develop over 100 industry-specific enterprise solutions including native apps from the ground up for both the iPhone and iPad. These apps will make heavy use of IBM's cloud infrastructure, which will be optimized for iOS, as well as Apple's iCloud services.

That aside, there will also be a new AppleCare service and support offering from Apple that will be tailored to the needs of enterprise users with 24/7 assistance from Apple’s award-winning customer support group, and with on-site service delivered by IBM.

Finally, IBM will also be able to sell or lease iOS devices to its clients.
