Gemalto is in the business of making smart chips, and most importantly, SIM cards for your mobile devices. And it hit our radar just a few moments ago when rumors were floating on the web that pointed its possible collaboration with Apple. Word has it that the Cupertino-based company is approaching Gemalto to create a special SIM card that would be integrated into the iPhone, which will be activated via Apple's App Store.
GigaOM - Sources inside European carriers have reported that Apple has been working with SIM-card manufacturer Gemalto to create a special SIM card that would allow consumers in Europe to buy a phone via the web or at the Apple Store and get the phones working using Apple’s App Store.
