AnTuTu benchmark leaks Samsung Galaxy S7 specs
Benchmark tool AnTuTu took to their Weibo account when it detected a benchmark of a 5.1-inch Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone. The benchmark revealed that the 2016 flagship will come with Android 6.0 OS (Marshmallow) out of the box, and they will also be using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processors – amongst other interesting changes.
The benchmark also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be changing their rear camera to a 12-megapixel BRITECELL sensor, confirming the announcement Samsung made at an investors forum, regarding their change to a higher resolution sensor that touts better low-light performance and a wider dynamic range (compared to the current models).
The 5.1-inch Samsung Galaxy S7 using the Qualcomm system-on-chip is also paired with 4GB RAM. The display looks like it will be a WQHD quality screen at 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution.
The benchmark doesn’t tell us if the phone will come with a MicroSD slot or not, and it also doesn’t reveal how Samsung will divvy up the Snapdragon 820 processors and the Exynos processors between their upcoming 5.1-inch, 5.5-inch, and 6-inch smartphones.
The use of Snapdragon 820 processors isn’t surprising, since the Korean electronics giant just announced that they’ve started mass production of their second-generation logic chip, and said chip will be going into both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processors, as well as their proprietary Exynos 8 Octa processors.
Rumors claim that Samsung has exclusive rights to using the Snapdragon 820 until April 2016, but that would be mostly false, seeing how Qualcomm has already announced that the Letv Le Max Pro would be the first smartphone to come with a Snapdragon 820 processor within the first half of 2016. Other rumors also indicate that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will come after Chinese New Year, packing the Snapdragon 820 chip within.
