Android Device Manager Helps Find Your Lost Phone

By the end of August, Android mobile users will be able to look for their lost phones via the Android Device Manager. The service will allow users to not only pinpoint the exact location of their lost Android smartphones, but will also be able to get the phone to ring at maximum volume, regardless of the device's set ring volume, which is helpful for locating the device when it's set to silent mode. And in the event that you can't find your device at all, there's also the option to completely wipe the device to keep your personal data safe.

Availability and getting started
This service will be available later this month on devices running Android 2.2 or above; to use it, you also will need to be signed into your Google Account. There will also be an Android app to allow you to easily find and manage your devices. Stay tuned!

While the service will reach users before the end of the month, Phone Arena reported that some devices already have the feature pushed onto their phones. You can check for the feature by going to Settings -> Security -> Device Administrators. If you already have the feature pushed onto your phone, you will see an option for a checkbox right next to "Android Device Manager."

However, Phone Arena also pointed out that even if you have the feature on your device, it won't be very useful. That's because both the Android Device Manager on the Google Play site, and the Android Device Manager mobile app aren't available yet.
