AMD Drops Exclusive Windows OS Support; Ready for Android and Chrome OS

It seems like AMD will be supporting Google's Android and Chrome platforms, instead of exclusively sticking to Windows OS, as the company aims to be more outstanding on the market of tablets, low-cost PCs, and smartphones.

Although AMD said it will only support Microsoft's OS with its SoCs for PCs, tablets, and other devices a few months back, a majority of media tablets are presently running on the Apple iOS and Google Android platforms.

A few years back, AMD had hinted at supporting the Google platform, when it hired some software specialists to analyze it. It appears the chip designer will develop a software stack in order for AMD's chips to work under the operating systems.
