More than 11 months after Netflix went global, Amazon takes a similar approach by launching its video-on-demand service Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories which include Singapore.

Starting with a free 7-day trial at PrimeVideo.com, you can sign up for Prime Video at an introductory price of US$2.99 (~S$4.25) per month for the first 6 months. If you wish to continue after the first 6 months, the full subscription fee is US$5.99 (~S$8.50). The video-on-demand service is available on Android and iOS devices, and popular LG and Samsung Smart TVs.

While Prime Video does not have as much content as Netflix, it offers popular new original series such as The Grand Tour from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May (currently the top-rated TV show on IMDb with an overall rating of 9.4 and over 20,000 votes) and award-winning Amazon Original Series like The Man in the High Castle, Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle and Tumble Leaf.

Content can be watched in English, with French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish subtitled and dubbed versions also available for many titles. You also can download all movies and TV shows for offline viewing, a feature which Netflix recently rolled out.
