*Update as of 10.38 pm: Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, has given his trademark "yep" comment on his website on the information provided by AllThingsD's sources. The Loop has also recently confirmed the launch date for the iPhone 5, hence this is as good as an "official" confirmation.
If Apple is holding a launch event for the iPad Mini on 17th October, it would have sent out media invites on 10th October. However, that day passed without a single word from Apple. Is the Cupertino-based company still planning to launch the iPad Mini this year? Well, AllThingsD thinks so.
Citing information from sources who are familiar with Apple's plans, AllThingsD claims that the company will unveil the iPad Mini on 23rd October at an invite-only event. While there is no specific information on the venue, AllThingsD is speculating that the event is likely to be held at Apple's Town Hall Auditorium.
AllThingsD - "But it’s likely to be at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium. The company has debuted a number of important products there in the past — OS X Lion, a next-generation MacBook Air and the iPhone 4S — so there’s plenty of precedent."
Apple typically sends out invites for events a week in advance, therefore we will know soon whether the iPad Mini will come to fruition this time.
