Affinity Photo 1.6 released with support for unlimited layers

If you’re a photography professional or enthusiast looking to do some edits to clean up your images and don’t like the idea of being on a subscription based plan, Affinity Photo 1.6 might be a worthy alternative.

Just released for Mac, Windows, and iOS, the image editing software offers support for unlimited layers, with a library of adjustment layers, layer effects, and live filter layers too. All of these can be grouped, clipped, blended or masked together to allow for complex compositions, and you can import/export Photoshop files to edit directly in Affinity Photo too.

Support for large PSB files, Photoshop plugins and ABR brush files is included, as is the option for doing batch processing so that you can more effectively multi-task on jobs. From the screen shot above, it seems like the layout is largely similar to Photoshop, so Photoshop users should be able to jump right in and get accustomed to the flow without much hassle.

The list of features is too large to detail here, but some of the outstanding ones are 360o image editing, Saveable Undo History, Real time layer effects, Live Perspective projection, and Focus Merge, which basically automates focus stacking for greater depth of field.

Click here for the full list of features. The software is available for purchase now for $68.98 (US$50), with a time-limited offer that throws in a free Macro Pack, a free Dirk Wustenhagen - Fine Art Texture Collection pack, and a free Uplift –Epic Skies Overlays set said to be worth over $187.96.
