Adobe Photoshop CC Update Makes 3D Printing Easier

A major update to Adobe Creative Cloud includes new 3D printing capabilities that will be integrated into Photoshop CC. This allows Creative Cloud members to to design in 3D from scratch or refine an existing 3D model using Photoshop tools. Features like automated mesh repair and support structure generation will ensure the models produced are of a high standard, while accurate previews will help with producing 3D designs that are what the designer envisioned.

Photoshop CC supports the most popular desktop 3D printers like MakerBot Replicator. It also supports the full range of materials, such as ceramics and full color sandstone, that are available on Shapeways, a 3D printing community and marketplace. Photoshop users are also able to directly upload their 3D models to the Sketchfab 3D publishing service, and embed them in their Behance profile using Sketchfab’s interactive 3D viewer.

Other updates to Adobe Creative Cloud include Perspective Warp and linked Smart Objects in Photoshop CC. Perspective Warp changes the viewpoint from which an object is seen, while linked Smart Objects update the final design automatically if the reference file is changed. It’s now possible to integrate Typekit fonts into print projects, PDF files, DPS apps, and more, while new functionality in InDesign CC reduces the frustration of missing font errors by automatically searching the Typekit desktop font library for options.
