Adobe announces the launch of Lightroom on Android 2.0

Android users will be pleased to know that Adobe has just updated Lightroom for Android to version 2.0, bringing new features that were previously only available on the iOS version.

In-App Camera

Unique to the Android version (iOS doesn’t allow apps to capture in RAW format), is the new In-App camera, which will allow you to capture images in RAW using Adobe’s DNG format. The camera allows for the usual basic adjustments, but will also allow you to use one of five shoot-through presets to quickly adjust the look of your photo.

The five shoot-through presets can be previewed at capture and adjusted after, allowing you the option of non-destructive editing right in your phone. This feature does require your smart phone to have OPENGL ES 3.0 and later support (for example, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge+, LG G4, V10, HTC One M9), but certainly gives you more control over your images as you will be able to see just how they look throughout the process.

Split Toning

Allows you to apply a color tone to the highlights or the shadows, allowing you to replicate the look of split-toned black and white photo.

Point Curve Mode in Tone Curve

Get even more control with the new Point Curve Mode as you can adjust RGB and the individual red, green and blue channels in your photo by placing points to adjust the tone curves of each channel.

Dehaze

Recover color and contrast easily with the Dehaze tool. This handy tool works via sliders and can be used for creative effect.

Targeted Adjustment Tool

Allows you to do spot color adjustments in specific areas of your photos, and gives you a new color/B&W editing option.

Enhanced sharing

Allows you to quickly shared edited images to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and more. Videos can also be created by passing your images over to Adobe Premiere Clip and syncing them to music.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for Android 2.0 is available for free now on the Google Play Store.
