If you are looking for a compact M.2 drive, ADATA has got an option for you. ADATA is now offering its Premier SP550 SSD in the compact M.2 2280 form factor.

Like the 2.5-inch version of the Premier SP550, the new M.2 Premier SP550 will use a Silicon Motion SM2256 controller paired with TLC NAND (presumably from SK Hynix).

This new M.2 version will also feature all of the technologies found in the 2.5-inch version, including SLC caching and DRAM cache buffer, which help improve overall performance.

The drive will use the SATA 6Gbps interface, so don't expect blazing performance. Claimed sequential read and write performance is said to be 560MB/s and 510MB/s respectively, while maximum random performance is 75K IOPS.

This new drive will also support DEVSLP, allowing it to achieve incredibly low power consumption when in idle mode.

The M.2 Premier SP550 will be available in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities.
