Cloud backup provider Acronis today launched Acronis True Image 2017, the latest version of its personal backup software for consumers. Like its predecessor, the new backup utility combines both local and cloud backup to provide more versatile and reliable backup solutions to customers.

With this release, Acronis has placed a great emphasis on speed, and it claims True Image 2017 is a whopping 60 per cent faster than previous versions of the software in popular scenarios.

Compared to competing solutions, Acronis True Image 2017 is also reportedly three to six times faster on Windows PCs when it comes to backing up and recovering data from an external USB 3.0 drive.

In addition, Acronis has tried to take into account the multiple devices that consumers own today and made it easier to backup data on these devices and manage them. For instance, it’s now possible to wirelessly backup data on all manner of mobile devices to your PC – all you need is a Wi-Fi connection.

One of the more interesting features is probably the ability to automatically backup content from your Facebook account, including photos, videos, comments, and even likes. This enables you to recover from things like accidental deletions or malicious attacks. Many users treat Facebook as an online photo gallery, and Acronis True Image 2017 helps them backup content without having first to port it offline.

There are also features for power users, and the software can automatically discover connected NAS devices, pre-configure them for backup storage, and reconnect them if they happen to go offline. Acronis has built on the archiving feature first introduced in True Image 2016 as well, and you can now archive (and encrypt) files to external storage drives, a NAS device, or a network share.

Acronis True Image 2017 is now available for purchase as a perpetual license at S$69.99. Alternatively, a one-year subscription will cost you S$59.99
