Acer Iconia B1 Tablet Leaked, Possible Rival to US$99 Nexus Tablet
Acer is the latest Android vendor to join the race to the bottom for tablets as a FCC listing and several leaked images reveal an upcoming 7-inch tablet from the company.
According to the FCC listing, the tablet is known as the Acer Iconia B1. It should come with cellular connectivity due to the presence of a SIM card slot. The GLBenchmark database states that the Iconia B1 has a dual-core 1.2GHz Mediatek processor, a PowerVR SGX 531 GPU, a display resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels and runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Other specs include 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microSD memory card slot.
The Acer Iconia B1 is said to be announced at Consumer Electronics Show 2013 (CES 2013) or Mobile World Congress 2013 (MWC 2013). While there is no information on its price tag, it is likely that Acer will position the Iconia B1 as a low-cost tablet which will compete against the likes of the alleged US$99 ASUS Nexus tablet.
