Earlier, Samsung confirmed that it will showcase the Galaxy S III at a separate event after the MWC 2012. The company did not specify a date but a new report from Electronic Times News from South Korea says that the Galaxy S II’s successor will hit the shelves in May. Given that we are looking at a possible April launch, the May timeframe for the Galaxy S III's retail availability wouldn't be too far off.
Selling date aside, the report claims that the Galaxy S III will be 7-millimeter thin. Being thin is definitely the in thing for smartphones, considering how Motorola came back with their insanely thin Motorola Razr. And let us not forget about the Huawei Ascend P1 S with its slim profile of 6.66mm that was showcased at CES 2012.
Specs-wise, speculations that have been passing around the Internet suggest that the Android 4.0-powered Galaxy S III will sport a Super AMOLED Plus display, 8-megapixel main camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, quad-core CPU, and 2GB RAM. LTE 4G will be a connectivity option as well.
