Singapore, 24 February, 2012 – HardwareMAG (HWM), Singapore’s leading tech magazine, and HardwareZone.com, Singapore’s No.1 technology online portal, paid tribute to 38 companies by giving out 71 awards at the HWM+HardwareZone.com Tech Awards today.
The HWM+HardwareZone.com Tech Awards honour industry players who have introduced products of exceptional quality, innovation and performance between December 2010 and November 2011. In total, 34 Editor’s Choice awards and 37 Reader’s Choice awards were handed out in categories ranging from computers and consumer electronics to communications and digital entertainment.
A number of Reader's Choice award categories have been fine tuned to better reflect the ongoing changes in the tech industry and considerations from readers’ feedback. Some of these categories include Best Headphones Brand, Best LED Printer Brand and Best Home Theatre Projector Brand.
Readers of HWM and the online community in HardwareZone.com voted for their preferred brands from 138 brands that were competing for the Reader’s Choice awards. More than 155,000 votes were received, some from readers who voted using their mobile devices via a refreshed mobile interface to facilitate users who are often on-the-move. The substantial increase of reader’s votes indicates a significant rise in interest from readers who want to be involved or have a say in who should be recognised as the best in the industry. It’s also an indication that the Awards, in just three years, has established itself as a trustworthy name amongst the tech community.
For the Editor's Choice awards, HWM and HardwareZone.com identified 159 products in 34 categories. The nominees were selected because they provided benefits, value and significant technological advancement for consumers. These were then meticulously tested and benchmarked in the HWZ Labs, where a panel of experts short-listed them to 34 Editor’s Choice award winners.
Mr Vijay Anand, Editor of HardwareZone.com, said: “The HWM+HardwareZone.com Tech Awards is the most established event in the region where tech products and services are honoured with Editor’s Choice awards for their innovation and impact on our lives. The Reader’s Choice awards, on the other hand, are awarded based on readers’ votes that determine their preferences that acknowledge the brand’s awareness and reach. We constantly assess and improve its scope to bring the industry’s only award event that matters to both our consumers and clients in the tech circle.”
Mr David Chieng, Editor of HardwareMAG Singapore, said: “This year, the Editor’s Choice categories evolved to include headphones, tablets and a wider variety of notebook categories to reflect the massive growth in the mobile ecosystem that have taken the market by storm. Their inclusion for our Awards is timely, as this reflects HWM Singapore’s relevance to our readers.”
Mr Eugene Low, Deputy Managing Director, SPH Magazines, added: “As the premier tech event of each year, the HWM+HardwareZone.com Tech Awards 2012 sets a benchmark in the tech industry as a way for our community, readers and editorial team to recognise the best in form and function among tech products and services. We hope the awards will serve as encouragement to the winning brands as they strive to provide the best for consumers.”
The complete results will be released online at the Tech Awards portal on HardwareZone.com over the next week. The results will also be published in HWM Singapore’s March and April issues.
