Apple fans waiting for a new 4-inch iPhone may not need to wait much longer. According to China's IHS Technology Research Director, Kevin Wang, a new 4-inch iPhone 6c will be in customer's hands by the middle of next year.

Wang made the comments on China’s popular Weibo network, although he didn’t add any further details.

As it stands now, the only 4-inch iPhone model currently available from Apple is the iPhone 5s, a great device, but one which is now more than two years old.

To lend some support to Wang's claim, consistently-accurate KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has echoed Wang's mid-2016 release and also claims the handset will boast an A9 processor and a metal casing, but sadly no 3D Touch technology. This would be a significant change from the iPhone 5c, which had a plastic casing. While a Japanese blog cited that it would still use an A8 processor, it's anybody's guess at this point of time.
