Engadget received information from a source about a possible new HTC device, codenamed Zeta that is far more powerful than the recently leaked HTC Edge. It is rumored to have the following specs:

  • Qualcomm APQ8064 2.5GHz quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4.5-inch 720p HD display
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 32GB internal storage capacity
  • Beats Audio
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash + 1.3-megapixel front camera
  • 1080p video recording
  • 1830mAh battery
  • 109.8 x 60.9 x 9.8mm
  • 146g

Based on what we see from the purported specifications, the 1830mAh battery should improve the overall battery mileage of the Zeta, even with a large 4.5-inch display and a quad-core processor. Likewise, HTC's long standing relationship with Qualcomm is represented once more, with the company's new APQ8064 processor. The Qualcomm processor will supposedly be available sometime in end 2011, and this matches up with the possible launch of HTC's first quad-core device powered by the new Qualcomm chip.

Pricing and availability of the Zeta is still currently unavailable, but chances are, we should hear more news about this powerful beast and its quad-core tablet counterpart when Mobile World Congress 2012 kicks off next year.
