12-inch MacBook Air rumored to be entering production in early 2015

Apple's MacBook Air is one of the most popular ultraportable notebooks today. However, its design has remained largely unchanged and its specifications have become predictable over the years.

Apple has been rumored to be looking at ways to reinvigorate the MacBook Air lineup, and as early as March this year, there were reports of a new 12-inch model with Retina display which could possibly also do without a fan assembly.

Now, a report has indicated that Apple will be putting this rumored 12-inch model into mass production early next year. There is no mention of a Retina display, but it is believed that this new model would super thin and that it would have a fan-less chassis design as well as a buttonless trackpad.

Presumably, this means that this 12-inch model will be powered by Intel's new Core M processors, which are based on its new Broadwell architecture. The Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro was the first notebook we reviewed with this processor and it has a fan-less chassis.

Reports also suggest that, for the first time, the MacBook Air will come in different color finishes - Space Gray, Silver and Gold - and it will launch officially in the middle of next year.
