Results - FarCry 1.33 (DirectX 9 Benchmark)

With the irregularities that we have noticed with ATI Radeon X1800 cards for FarCry version 1.33, High Dynamic Rendering (HDR) did not seem to be activated despite what the program said and naturally, we were reluctant to present the results for the ATI cards. Hence, for HDR portion of the benchmark, there were only two sets of results from the NVIDIA camp. Here, the extra memory and higher clock speeds only made their mark at 1280 x 1024 and above, as the bottleneck for the lower resolutions was with the processor. The difference though was again a rather large gap of around 30% in favor of the XFX GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB.

Without HDR in the other benchmark, the system appeared to be the bottleneck as all the cards performed similarly. However, XFX GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB should play FarCry flawlessly at 1600 x 1200 and there were obvious improvements over the 256MB version.
