In truth, the news value of the X1 spoke for itself when Sony Ericsson took the next step to link up with the Windows Mobile community with the inclusion of Windows Mobile 6.1 as the operating system of choice for the X1. While we did not manage to get the full Xperia panel working due to its status as a prototype unit, the underlying importance of the interface design is apparent. This holds true for various devices in recent times such as the Samsung i780 and the HTC Touch Diamond that feature additional interfaces or even take on a full overhaul to enhance the Windows Mobile experience. With this in mind, there will be much to look out for as several key Windows Mobile devices are in the pipeline for the second half of 2008. Stay tuned, as we'll be keeping a close watch on the X1's imminent arrival, and with it, our full review of Sony Ericsson's Windows Mobile 6.1 debutant.

While we keep our eyes peeled for the upcoming X1, which should be heading to our shores in the later second half of this year, do also keep a lookout for other devices coming your way with the upcoming announcements expected over at CommunicAsia. So be ready as we open the floodgate of devices coming your way!
