Temperature Testing

Unfortunately, speed comes with a price and in the case of the Palit 7800GT Blitz, that price is the record high temperatures that we observed. The power transistors are arguably hot enough to scald your fingers, breaking the 100 degrees mark and it is almost twice as warm as the other normal GeForce 7800 GT cards. The other components that we measured were also warmer, though not as extreme as the power transistors. This differential is clearly due to the in-house PCB design choice, though more cost effective, it produced a lot of heat in addition to its pre-overclocked state. We would highly recommend good casing ventilation and perhaps even a slot-based duct cooler to extract heat near the graphics card just to be on the safer side.
