Temperature & Power Consumption

Temperature

The board's cooling system worked well and its operating temperatures were the second coolest we had recorded so far and it also fared a whole lot better than the mainstream performance Intel Z77 motherboards we tested last year.

Power Consumption

In terms of power draw, its performance mirrored that of the MSI Z77MPower with the same low idle power at 79W, and while under load, the MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming drew 213W that was just two watts lower than the former board. Overall, that's pretty good given the components and features on this board against the rest of the compared boards and the mainstream Intel Z77 boards tested last year.

The Bad
Lack of bundled Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity which its competitors offer
More PCIe lanes for multi-GPU configuration would have made this the best gaming board
