Overclocking

Limited as such by the included Overdrive application in ATI's Catalyst Control Center, we easily hit the maximum 621MHz possible using the utility for the MSI card. This was also similar to the core overclocks that we tried with the other Radeon X1950 PROs. The memory speeds were slightly lower than the maximum 1593MHz on the ASUS but as you can see from the 3DMark06 scores, the differences were rather insignificant. We have in our internal testing pushed the core of the Radeon X1950 PRO cards further than what the Overdrive utility allows via third-party tools, but without any further modifications to the card itself, the stable GPU overclocks aren't much higher than the Overdrive utility's limits. As such, it doesn't seem worth trying to overclock the Radeon X1950 PRO cards in general at the moment.
