D.O.T & Overclocking

Pushing the MSI NX7800GS-TD256 further was relatively easy. With MSI's guaranteed overclocking via their Dynamic Overclocking Technology (D.O.T) path, we tested the card at the max setting of 10%, which yielded results that can rival the ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition, the fastest AGP graphics card. However, the MSI NX7800GS-TD256 had plenty more untapped potential as we found out by good old traditional overclocking. How does a 10% speed premium over the Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition sound? That's exactly what we obtained at a maximum stable overclock of 470/1380MHz. At these gains, the MSI NX7800GS-TD256 isn't very far from a stock GeForce 7800 GT and we were glad to see that there was much headroom for the enthusiasts. However, don't forget that the processing configuration for these cards are different and an overclocked GeForce 7800 GS would never match a true GeForce 7800 GT if it were available in the AGP form.
