Gaming with the GX400

If we were to go by the performance numbers alone, the MSI GX400 would indeed seem to be a worthy purchase for those itching for a gaming notebook on the go. Sadly, we wished that the design aesthetics could have been slightly better, with more consideration towards the physical aspects like the position of the keyboard and the trackpad, but we're pretty much fine with everything else. The non-glossy inner surface is certainly a boon for fingerprint haters with its non-visible smudge material and we just can't get enough of that.

So putting aside those matters, we go back to what the MSI GX400 does best: performance, performance, performance. For its 14.1-inch form factor, the notebook delivers performance as good as what you could get on the bigger desktop replacement class of notebooks as you have seen on our performance comparison page. Sure it lacks the big panel with higher resolution, or the booming sub-woofer, but you did notice that it is light at just 2.2kg and is just what you need if you're the type that needs a gaming machine on the go.

Retailing at a reasonable local price of S$2,445, the GX400 delivers the performance that you would expect from a different class of notebooks at a form factor that's quite portable. While it doesn't look as pretty as some other notebooks from other manufacturers, it still manages to do a convincing job of being a decent notebook that's all but ready to get you going places.

At S$2445, the MSI GX400 does deliver the performance in a 14.1-inch form factor, so gamers, take note.
