The overall SYSmark 2004 scores follows the performance trend that we've expected; The stock QX6700 is on par with the E6700, while overclocked to 3GHz, it matches the X6800. The 3GHz Xeon 5160 SMP system that we put into play here also follows the same trend, matching up nicely with the QX6700 and X6800. However, the results do require further investigation. If you look at the individual workload breakdown, you will notice that both the quad-core QX6700 and SMP Xeon 5160 perform exceptionally well in the Internet Content Creation (ICC) suite. The stock QX6700 already matches the X6800 and at 3GHz, it is around 8% faster. Since the ICC tests do involve web and video tasks, some of the applications may have been more highly threaded, resulting in better scores for the quad-core processor.

However, they are weaker in the Office Productivity suite. The QX6700 performs at the range of an E6600 and even overclocked up to 3.3GHz, it could only match up to the E6700. This is a strange anomaly considering that even if the applications used in the benchmark tests are not threaded, the QX6700 should be at least on par with the E6700 utilizing only a single core or one pair of cores for the QX6700.
