By now, we all know how much ATI Radeon X1000 cards love this benchmark. And they proved it again as the GeCube Radeon X1800 GTO soundly thrashed its GeForce 7600 GT rival by quite a margin. Without anti-aliasing, its lead was only around 7% to 13% but when that was enabled, it rose considerably to around 21% to 25%. Obviously, the larger memory bandwidth of the Radeon X1800 GTO came into greater prominence at the more intensive settings compared to the GeForce 7600 GT that's stuck with a 128-bit memory bus. The Radeon X1800 GTO was almost comparable to the GeForce 7800 GT at some settings.

Despite similar clock speeds, the extra pipelines of the Radeon X1800 XL helped to maintain a performance gap of up to 15% between itself and the reduced GTO version. It would probably also spell more downwards price pressure on the Radeon X1600 XT, which was comprehensively outclassed by both the Radeon X1800 GTO and the GeForce 7600 GT.
