Overclocking

GeCube opted for the safe option by not overclocking its Radeon X1800 XT out of the box but as we found out, it had a healthy margin of overclocking in it or we just happened to be lucky. From the default 625/1500MHz DDR, we could push the GeCube up to 700/1560MHz, which was a solid 12% increase in its core frequency. Effectively, this almost matched the default frequencies of the overclocked ASUS EAX1800XT TOP. When compared to the ASUS (running at 720/1620MHz DDR), the difference between the two cards was a rather paltry 4%. Like all of the previous benchmarks though, the PowerColor stayed fairly close here, even if its raw overclocked magnitude is slightly smaller than the GeCube Radeon GC-X1800XTD-VIE3.
