Overclocking

Overclocking the Foxconn GeForce 8800 GTS even further brought up some interesting scores. First, the GeForce 8800 GTX may have the full capabilities of the G80 core and a larger frame buffer compared to the handicapped GTS but when the latter is overclocked, the difference was merely 7% in 3DMark06 at 1280 x 1024. However, as we gradually increase the resolution, this gap increases up to 10%, illustrating the advantage the GTX has. You can probably apply this scenario to the case where anti-aliasing was enabled too. For those concerned solely about the overclocking advantage against the default clocked Foxconn card, we did see a jump in scores by a substantial amount of around 8 to 9%. This further widens the gap between the overclocked 320MB card and the standard 640MB GeForce 8800 GTS.
