Test Setup

Test Setup

To highlight the benefits of the new nForce 590 SLI if any, the Foxconn C51XEM2AA motherboard will be benchmarked against NVIDIA's previous generation MCP, the nForce4 SLI X16. We will be using the latest Athlon FX-62 and stock DDR2-800 memory modules from Corsair on the C51XEM2AA so in order to even out the playground, the reference nForce4 SLI X16 board will be running an overclocked Athlon 64 FX-60 at 2.8GHz to match the FX-62.

The Socket 939 Athlon 64 FX-60 is also the last AMD processor to still use DDR memory prior to transition to Socket AM2 so we've clocked it with very tight timings to see if its ultra low latencies can still provide a challenge to DDR2's better bandwidth - the last stand of DDR.

Full test setup parameters are listed below:-
