Speed & Quality Results

Print Speed

For this class of printers, speed is probably not the utmost concern for the user. A few additional seconds here and there are easily forgiven if the printout turned out to be great. That being said, printing a 4R photo via the R3000's top-loading feeder took about 42 seconds, which is pretty fast. An A4 print took under two minutes. Going all the way up to A3+, our stopwatch clocked slightly over four minutes per photo. So if you're going to print a set of 30 A3+ photos for an exhibition, remember to set aside roughly two hours.

Print Quality

Intricate wood grain details can be seen, details are preserved even in the darkest part of the background. On the gamut ramps, the primary colors are accurate. The transitions are uniform, with hardly any banding.
Skin tones are mostly spot-on. In this example, we don't get overly pink skin tone from the first baby, or any hint of green on the second baby. Shadow details can be seen at the entrance of the building. Gradations of the saturated blue sky are smoothly rendered.
Again, we see preservation of fine details, natural gradations, and vivid colors. We see excellent gray transitions here, from full black to full white.

In a nutshell, the R3000 delivers scintillating print quality. Those who spend time tweaking it (through paper and printer profiling) will be rewarded even further.
