Encountering the Dragon - Exterior

First of all, the Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P50R is a casing designed with AMD systems in mind. The huge motif of a dragon on its left side panel is a clear reference to AMD's "Dragon" platform. And if you have any lingering suspicions, all you need to do is to peer further down and you'll find the AMD brand inscribed onto the plastic viewing pane.

Strictly speaking, however, the Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P50R is not exactly all-new. It first began life as a generic casing under the name Armorsuit PC-P50. It's the exact same casing you see here minus the red color schematic and AMD styling.

Back to the Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P50R, we found that it is made out of aluminum and so weighs only 6.6kg. To add on, the PC-P50R has also been given an anodized finish, giving it a more polished look and feel.

Starting with the front, you can see that the Armorsuit PC-P50R is perforated for better ventilation, and there's nine drive bays.

While most of the Armorsuit PC-P50R looks simple, the left side panel certainly isn't. Some might find the dragon too overwhelming, but we think it looks pretty fierce and ups the casing's cool factor.

The rear panel of the PC-P50R has everything you'd expect from a high-end casing. Key features here include the eight expansion slots and the grommets for liquid cooling.

At the top we find the I/O panel which provides two USB ports, headphones and microphone jack. This is a little sparse if you ask us, an extra USB or eSATA port would definitely be welcomed.

Peering underneath the Armorsuit PC-P50R, we find a removable filter for the PSU fan, as well as rubber feet to give the case a stable stance.

The top panel can actually be removed. Removing it unveils the twin 140mm exhaust fans. They are unbelievably quiet under operation and also give off a menacing red glow.

There's a 120mm intake fan at the front. This draws in cold air to keep the internals cool. Like the top panel fans, it too is supremely quiet and glows red.

The front drive bay face plates can be easily removed and each even has its own filter, which in turn can be easily detached for cleaning.
