CrystalMark Benchmarking
In terms of performance, the BlackBox managed an average read and write speeds of 34.4MB/s and 10.5MB/s through a Gigabit switch when tested with CrystalMark 2004R3. This makes it the slowest of our trio of NAS devices here. In the same benchmark, Random Read and Write speeds with 512K blocks averaged 15.2MB/s and 10.3 MB/s. With 64K blocks, the average read and write speeds dropped to about 7.4MB/s and 8.2MB/s respectively. Evidently, speed is not one of the BlackBox's strong suits.
