A Storm is Coming

As the update to the Cosmos 1000 and the flagship unit of the new Storm brand, the Cooler Master Cosmos Storm has indeed surpassed expectations to bring about an almost flawless chassis in both design and looks. We say almost flawless because, the chassis still has some minor, minor things that can be easily overlooked, such the lack of some of the premium goodies included in the Cosmos 1000 or the jarring appearance of the cover for the front I/O ports, which is really a very subjective issue.

Other design oddities already mentioned include a fan filter for a non-included fan, not to mention the weird and seemingly arbitrary number of fans that come with the chassis. Also changed are the six HDD drive compartment slots that were in the Cosmos 1000 that we liked too. That's not to say it's all that bad, as we honestly feel that such minor quirks aren't really significant enough to detract from the overall beauty and function of the Cosmos Storm, which has plenty of cool features mentioned previously.

Features like the capacitance powered power button and the easily removable top cover for installing a water cooling system are nice touches by Cooler Master. The other features that we've seen before, from the easily removable side panels, the tool-free design of the chassis, to the one button mounting of optical drives and the spacious interior are but the culmination of features that makes the Cosmos Storm a really good chassis if you can afford it (it will definitely not be cheap). To be officially released in March (hence the lack of an official retail price at the moment), the Cosmos Storm takes the best designs of its previous models and combines them for maximum effect. While some detractors might find the looks and design to be uglier than the Cosmos 1000, we still think it's pretty darn hot.

The Cosmos Storm is a a very well designed upgrade to the already wonderful Cosmos 1000.
