Overclocking

While it was easy to overclock the Radeon HD 2900 XT through the Catalyst Control Center, there are upper limits placed on the clock speeds. For those who desire greater control and more leeway for overclocking, there is a custom AMD GPU Clock tool that you should be able to download online. Anyway, we managed to get rather high overclocks from the Radeon HD 2900 XT, reaching a core clock of 850MHz and 2000MHz DDR without any further tweaks. At these speeds, the Radeon overtook the GeForce 8800 GTX though NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 Ultra remained at its lofty perch. However, one should not forget that at such high clock speeds, the already high power consuming Radeon HD 2900 XT would guzzle even more power and break new power consumption figures for a single graphics card. So be sure your system has an adequate PSU to handle this task.
