Temperature Testing

Despite the vague and overly generalized claim on the packaging of the ASUS EN8600GT Silent, we were none too surprised that its core temperature was easily higher than the standard GeForce 8600 GT. On the other hand, it did manage to be lower than the other passively cooled card here, the XFX GeForce 8600 GT Fatal1ty (which however was overclocked by default). Overall, the temperatures were all higher than the reference model, but that was no surprise since there is after all no fan on this silent card. What would have really shocked us would be if the results below turned out contrary but unfortunately for this ASUS card, the marketing does seems to be just that.
